Open Cloud Manifesto

The Open Cloud Manifesto is a good summary of some of the value propositions and potential obstacles to cloud computing. Nothing inside is absolutely revolutionary, but listing the topics in one place is useful. The main thesis of the manifesto is that cloud providers should attempt to define open standards for clouds to enable users to truly treat them as utilities. This is a good idea, and might happen anyway through market forces, but the interesting thing is that none of the major cloud providers (Amazon, Google and Microsoft) has signed the manifesto. There are probably politics involved that don't fully come out in the writing.
